Legendary Nigerian singer, Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has made a public appeal asking his family members and the general public to stay out of his private life and allow him to live peacefully with his new wife, Natasha.
In a video shared online on Friday, the music star expressed deep frustration, saying the situation surrounding his relationship had “gotten dangerously out of hand,” with Natasha now receiving death threats.
2Baba said his family, despite claiming they were trying to “save” him, had instead contributed to damaging Natasha’s reputation and putting her life in danger.
“I am a grown man and I believe I have the right to be with whoever I want to be with,” he said. “My family, in trying to say they want to save me or help me, have actually destroyed me, and they have killed somebody’s daughter’s character.”
He noted that although he and his wife had a disagreement—something he stressed happens in every marriage—it was no justification for the harassment and threats that followed.
The singer added that he had been publicly active and recently performed at a show in Abuja, dismissing claims that he was in distress or needed rescuing.
Expressing frustration with his relatives, he said:
“How can you say you’re trying to save me and you’re messing my life up? This is unacceptable. It is my own family, my brothers… this isn’t right.”
2Baba also revealed that similar interference had happened in his previous marriage to Annie Idibia, stressing that ongoing meddling from relatives had become harmful and dangerous.
He warned that he would no longer remain silent as the situation escalates, particularly with what he described as “fabricated lies” being spread by people he once trusted.
Appealing to the public, he said:
“Please stop with the death threats and harassment. They brought people to my house, writing petitions and saying all sorts of things. This is not nice; it is not fair.”
He ended his message with a firm plea for privacy:
“I want to tell my family, please stay away from my private and personal life. Just let me be with who I want to be with. Just let us be—that is my single appeal.”
