In case you missed it, a major relief has come the way of DStv subscribers after Canal+ and Warner Bros Discovery reached a last-minute agreement to retain 12 popular channels on the DStv bouquet, following an earlier warning that they could be removed from January 1, 2026.

The development follows the signing of a new multi-year, multi-territory agreement between both companies, aimed at strengthening their international partnership. The deal also includes plans to expand HBO Max to two additional countries.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Canal+ said the agreement spans multiple territories, covering South Africa, the rest of Africa, and several European regions where the company operates.

“This expanded agreement covers both the distribution of HBO Max and the renewal of several Warner Bros Discovery thematic channels across numerous regions,” Canal+ said.

The renewed channels include Discovery Channel, CNN International, TLC, Discovery Family, Real Time, TNT Africa, Food Network, HGTV, Investigation Discovery, Cartoon Network, Cartoonito and Travel Channel.

The announcement brings relief to DStv users who had received email notifications and on-screen messages from December 1, 2025, warning that the channels could be dropped after negotiations between Canal+ and Warner Bros Discovery initially stalled.

Beyond Africa, the agreement also covers Romania, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, where Cartoon Network, Cartoonito and CNN International have been renewed. Other Warner Bros Discovery channels renewed in some European markets—but not available in Africa—include Warner TV, Cinemax and TVN.

Canal+ described the agreement as “a major milestone in the development of our collaboration on an international scale,” reaffirming its longstanding partnership with Warner Bros Discovery.
