The Lagos State Police Command has formally invited the Senior Pastor of Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries, Chris Okafor, to report at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, over allegations of multiple rape and other offences said to be capable of breaching public peace.
According to the police, Pastor Okafor is expected to appear before the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the SCID at 10 a.m. on Monday, January 5, 2026. The invitation letter, the command said, has already been served on him through his legal representative.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, said the Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, ordered a thorough investigation into the numerous allegations, which include sexual offences and other conduct allegedly capable of causing a breakdown of law and order in Lagos State.
She disclosed that the CP has also directed the provision of full security protection for alleged victims and encouraged them to come forward to report their cases at the SCID, Panti, where investigations have commenced.
Adebisi assured that the identities of all victims and witnesses would be kept strictly confidential and adequately protected throughout the investigation. She also appealed to individuals with credible information or evidence related to the case to assist the police without fear of intimidation.
The police spokesperson stressed that the investigation would be carried out in a professional, transparent and unbiased manner, in line with the law, regardless of the status of the individuals involved.
“The Lagos State Police Command remains committed to maintaining law and order and ensuring that all allegations of criminal acts against any person, no matter how highly placed, are discreetly investigated. No sentiment will be allowed to prevail. Justice must take its course,” the statement said.
