Seun Kuti, Wizkid x Fela

Wizkid has broken his silence on the escalating online conflict between his fans and Seun Kuti, the Afrobeat musician and son of the late music legend Fela Anikulapo Kuti.

The dispute ignited last week after Seun, 43, publicly accused Wizkid’s fanbase—popularly known as Wizkid FC—of disrespecting his father’s legacy by drawing comparisons between Fela and the Grammy-winning singer.

However, in a series of posts on his Instagram Story on Tuesday evening, Wizkid, 35, openly vented his anger at the Afrobeat singer. The Made in Lagos hitmaker began by sharing a video of a woman delivering a heated critique of Seun in Yoruba.

In the video, the woman rebuked Seun’s recent conduct, questioning why his family had not intervened in what she described as “seven days and seven nights” of “insane” online behaviour, during which he had allegedly been “cursing people’s children.”

She further argued that Wizkid’s global success has played a major role in keeping Fela’s legacy relevant among younger audiences.

“Seun Kuti’s family, is this how you will be watching this bro until he runs mad in the market, after using seven days and seven nights to act insane?” she asked.

“You are cursing people’s children like this; you and your father will be unfortunate. If not for Wizkid, do you think anyone would still care about your father, or do you think we’re still in 1990?

“Your father succeeded, yet you’re this miserable? Is it only trousers and weed you inherited from him? Wizkid literally has his tattoo on his body. I used to think you were wise. You’re finished!”

Shortly after reposting the video, Wizkid directly attacked Seun in a series of Instagram Story posts, hurling insults at him and making provocative claims that he was bigger than the late Fela Kuti.

“Pu**y boy @thenigbirdkuti ok I big pass your papa!!! wetin u one do? Fool at 40!” he wrote.

He added: “@bigbirdkuti I’m Big Wiz everyday, bigger than your papa!! Wetin u one do, fool?”
“Hungry bastard.”

The posts have since triggered widespread reactions online, with fans and critics sharply divided over Wizkid’s remarks and the broader debate surrounding Fela’s enduring legacy and modern Afrobeat stardom.
