The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has expressed shock and deep sorrow over the sudden death of its newly elected Assistant Publicity Secretary, Karamo Yesiro.
News Agency of Nigeria reported that Yesiro passed away barely 24 hours after his re-election at the Lagos State APC Congress held at Onikan Stadium. He was expected to be among the newly elected state executives scheduled for inauguration on Thursday at the party’s secretariat.
In a statement issued on Wednesday in Lagos, the party’s spokesman, Seye Oladejo, described the death as a painful and tragic loss, noting that it came shortly after Yesiro was entrusted with a fresh mandate to serve in the party’s State Executive Council.
“The Lagos State Chapter of the APC received with profound shock and deep sorrow the news of the sudden demise of our newly elected Assistant Publicity Secretary, Hon. Karamo Yesiro,” Oladejo said.
He noted that the late party chieftain died at a time when his energy, commitment and passion for progressive politics were most needed.
“Having just been entrusted with the responsibility of serving in the State Executive Council, he embodied dedication, loyalty and an unwavering belief in the ideals of our party,” he added.
Oladejo said that although Yesiro’s tenure was tragically cut short, he left a lasting impression on party members and colleagues through his enthusiasm, humility and readiness to serve.
“He was a vibrant party man whose contributions to the growth and stability of the APC in Lagos State will not be forgotten,” the spokesman said.
The party extended its condolences to Yesiro’s family, political associates, friends and supporters, praying for strength for his loved ones and eternal rest for his soul.
“The Lagos APC stands united in mourning this painful loss. Karamo Yesiro will be remembered for his service, commitment and belief in the progressive cause,” Oladejo stated.
