The Federal Government has introduced a new consumer credit initiative, “Fly Now, Pay Later,” designed to make domestic air travel more affordable for Nigerians.

The Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation (CREDICORP) announced the scheme on Tuesday via its X handle, explaining that eligible passengers can now book local flights and spread payments over time through structured financing.

According to the agency, the initiative aims to eliminate the burden of upfront ticket costs, which often prevent many Nigerians from making urgent or necessary trips.

CREDICORP stated that the programme is being implemented in partnership with MyVisaro and Alert Microfinance Bank, as part of broader efforts to expand access to responsible consumer credit.

Interested applicants are encouraged to visit visaro.ng to book flights to destinations within Nigeria and access the financing option.

The corporation noted that the scheme aligns with its mandate to promote financial inclusion and improve access to essential services through innovative credit solutions.

The move comes amid rising airfares across the country, with ticket prices surging significantly in recent times. During the 2025 festive season, some one-way domestic fares reportedly increased by as much as 150 per cent, exceeding ₦300,000.

Airlines have attributed the spike in costs to factors such as high aviation fuel prices, foreign exchange challenges, and increased operational expenses.
