The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) has expanded its professional relationship support services as part of efforts to tackle domestic violence at its root causes.
The agency disclosed this in a statement shared on its official X (formerly Twitter) handle, noting that the initiative provides confidential guidance for individuals and couples in various stages of relationships, including dating, pre-marriage, early marriage, and strained unions.
According to DSVA, the programme is designed to promote early intervention by helping people manage conflicts before they escalate into abuse. It focuses on fostering healthy communication, mutual respect, and safer relationship dynamics.
The agency explained that many domestic violence cases are linked to unresolved disputes and harmful societal norms. By prioritising preventive care, DSVA aims to reshape attitudes and equip individuals with practical skills to handle disagreements constructively.
The services—such as Safe Dating education and marriage-focused clinical interventions—are delivered by trained professionals and tailored to meet the specific needs of clients, with strict confidentiality guaranteed.
Residents are encouraged to access support through the agency’s WhatsApp line, toll-free helpline, or official website, ensuring easier access to help without fear of stigma.
