Former PDP governorship candidate in Nasarawa State, David Ombugadu, has returned to the Peoples Democratic Party after exiting the All Progressives Congress over internal constraints.
He said the APC’s failure to open its e-registration portal denied his supporters access to membership and stalled his political movement.
“My request was for the party to open its e-registration portal to enable my supporters to register as members, but the portal remained closed,” he said.
Ombugadu announced his decision on Thursday in Lafia during a visit to the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists.
He said the situation forced him to abandon the APC and reposition within the PDP to advance his political ambition.
“I am fully back to the PDP. We have the people and a workable blueprint to deliver development to the state,” he said.
He confirmed plans to contest the 2027 governorship election under the PDP platform.
Ombugadu also pledged support for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu, pointing to ongoing reforms and projects.
He said his engagement with journalists aimed to strengthen collaboration and refine his development agenda.
“We are here to strengthen our relationship and seek your support in enriching our blueprint for the development of Nasarawa State, as journalists are the mirror of society,” he said.
He highlighted previous efforts in water supply, employment, empowerment, and healthcare, with a promise to expand them.
Ombugadu also declared his intention to contest the Nasarawa North senatorial by-election.
“I will contest the Nasarawa North senatorial by-election to fill the vacant seat and subsequently pursue my governorship ambition in 2027,” he said.
PDP National Vice Chairman for North Central, Francis Orogu, urged residents to support the party and expressed confidence in Ombugadu’s candidacy.
