Within the Lagos State House of Assembly, early signs point to a familiar pattern of strategic alliances, grassroots mobilisation, and increasingly sharp intra-party rivalries. While several political parties are preparing for the polls, the most intense battles are unfolding within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), which dominates the Assembly. The Labour Party currently holds a single seat in Amuwo Odofin Constituency I.
Findings indicate that many lawmakers are facing their toughest challenges not from opposition parties, but from fellow APC members, turning what might have been routine re-election bids into high-stakes contests.
Epe emerges as battleground
In Epe Constituency I, long-serving lawmaker Abiodun Tobun is contending with a strong challenge from former Epe Local Government Chairman, Segun Agbaje. Agbaje’s grassroots appeal and advocacy for community welfare have resonated with constituents seeking fresh ideas and generational change.
A similar rivalry is unfolding in Epe Constituency II, where incumbent Ogunkelu (Sketel) is set to face Prince Adeyemi Olumuyiwa Ogunlari (Gentle Giant) in a contest defined by influence and local political networks.
Ajeromi-Ifelodun shapes into three-way race
In Ajeromi-Ifelodun Constituency I, incumbent Lukmon Olumoh is expected to face former council chairman Ajifat, alongside the possible influence of former Deputy Speaker Kolawole Taiwo (HKT), adding complexity to the race.
Heavyweights face internal pressure
Speaker Mudashiru Obasa is also expected to face a challenge in Agege Constituency I, while Lagos Island Constituency I lawmaker Lara Oyekan-Olumegbon is contending with multiple aspirants, including Prince Moshood Olawale Eletu.

In Surulere Constituency I, Desmond Elliot is heading into a competitive re-election battle amid growing dissatisfaction among some constituents. Challengers include Barakat Odunuga-Bakare and Rasaq Ibrahim Olamilekan.
Surulere Constituency II is also shaping up as a contest, with Barrister Damilola Ayinde Marshal challenging incumbent Mosunmola Sangodara.
Youth participation gains ground
In Orile-Agege Constituency II, youth-backed aspirant Azeez Oladapo Yusuf (Nino) is gaining traction against incumbent Abdulkareem. Similarly, in Ibeju-Lekki Constituency II, Abiodun Yusuf (M.A.Y Jankalawi) is positioning against incumbent Oladele Ajayi.

Stephen Ogundipe remains a key figure in Oshodi/Isolo Constituency I but may face challenges from contenders such as Adebanji Atewogboye (Skibanj) and Mayowa Alakija.
In Apapa Constituency I, Deputy Speaker Mojisola Meranda is expected to face Dr. Mike Oladunjoye Egbayelo.
