Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested three suspected armed robbers linked to a series of attacks in Sangotedo area of Lagos.
The suspects — Balogun Teslim, Suleman Balogun, and Peter Oluwagbemi — were apprehended following a distress call over robbery incidents that occurred on April 11 and April 13, 2026, within a residential estate.
According to the police, items recovered from the suspects include a locally made pistol loaded with six rounds of live 9mm ammunition, two black face masks, a hammer, ropes, a large roll of cellophane tape, two black jackets, and a pair of pliers.
Before the arrival of officers, the suspects were reportedly attacked by an angry mob. Police operatives intervened, rescued them, and took them to a medical facility for treatment.
Preliminary investigations revealed that two of the suspects have confessed to the crime and identified a fleeing accomplice, simply known as Kinsley, as the leader of the gang. Efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest the suspect.
Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, reiterated the command’s zero tolerance for violent crime and cautioned residents against taking the law into their own hands.
He urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the police through designated emergency lines.
