The President of Dangote Industries Ltd., Alhaji Aliko Dangote, has announced a N550 million hostel donation to the Federal University of Technology, Owerri.
He unveiled the intervention at the weekend in Owerri, Imo State, while addressing students and stakeholders during a lecture.
The initiative targets the university’s accommodation gap and seeks to improve on-campus living conditions.
Dangote will execute the project through direct funding backed by his company’s capacity for large-scale development.
He told the audience, “We face significant economic and social challenges, but we also sit on enormous opportunities.”
He also stressed the need for local investment, saying, “If we refuse to invest in Nigeria and Africa, no foreign investor will be willing to stake their funds here.”
He encouraged students to develop practical skills, pursue innovation, and take active roles in driving economic growth.
