The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that the third and final phase of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise will commence nationwide on May 11, 2026.

The commission said the exercise, which was paused on April 17 to allow for cleanup of the voter register following claims and objections, will now run until July 10, 2026.

INEC urged all eligible Nigerians who have turned 18, as well as those who missed earlier phases, to take advantage of the opportunity to register. It also encouraged already registered voters seeking to transfer their registration, replace lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), or correct personal details to visit its official CVR portal or any of its state and local government offices.

According to the commission, the updated voter register will be displayed for public scrutiny between July 23 and July 29, allowing citizens to raise claims and objections to ensure accuracy and credibility.

INEC assured Nigerians that all arrangements have been finalised for a smooth process, calling on citizens to participate actively in strengthening the country’s electoral system.
