Operatives of the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Corps (LNSC) have arrested a 35-year-old suspected gun runner and alleged armourer for the Aiye cult group during a surveillance operation in Imota, Ikorodu.

The suspect, identified as Jelili Adeyemo, was apprehended in the early hours of Saturday, June 27, 2026, following complaints by residents of the Araromi community over repeated theft of petrol from parked vehicles.

Acting on intelligence, LNSC operatives intensified surveillance in the area and intercepted the suspect at about 2:00 a.m. after observing suspicious movements.

A follow-up search of another residence linked to the suspect at No. 13, Agundugbun Street, Imota, led to the recovery of two locally made long guns, three locally made short guns, military camouflage items, jack knives, a stun device, cutlasses, metal handcuffs, used cartridges and other incriminating items.

According to the agency, the suspect confessed to keeping the firearms on behalf of members of the Aiye cult group.

The suspect and all recovered exhibits have been handed over to the Imota Police Division for further investigation and possible prosecution.

Reacting to the arrest, the General Manager of the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Agency (LNSA), Prince Dr. Ifalade Oyekan, said the operation underscores the agency’s commitment to tackling crime and strengthening public safety in line with the security agenda of the Lagos State Government.
