The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court has remanded two siblings and a third suspect at the Suleja Correctional Centre over the alleged murder of their father, Adimike Godwin, in the Guzape area of Abuja.

The defendants — Adimike Anthony, Adimike Stephany and Comfort Ajibade — were arraigned by the FCT Police Command on a four-count charge bordering on criminal conspiracy to commit culpable homicide, culpable homicide, and offences under the Same Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act.

The court adjourned the case until September 30, 2026, for further proceedings and ordered that the three defendants remain in custody pending the hearing.

According to a statement issued on Monday by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, the incident occurred on May 15, 2026, after police received a distress call from a relative who reported that the deceased had become unreachable.

Detectives who responded to the scene found Adimike Godwin lying unconscious in his room with multiple stab wounds. He was immediately taken to Karu General Hospital, where doctors confirmed him dead.

Adeh said the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, directed a thorough investigation into the incident, leading to the initial arrest of five suspects, including the deceased’s two children, Comfort Ajibade, the family’s driver and the gateman.

She explained that after the conclusion of investigations, only Anthony, Stephany and Ajibade were found to have sufficient evidence against them and were subsequently charged before the court.

The police charged the three defendants jointly with conspiracy to commit culpable homicide and culpable homicide in connection with the death of Adimike Godwin.

In addition, Anthony was separately charged with entering into a same-sex civil union, while Stephany and Ajibade were jointly charged with entering into a same-sex civil union, contrary to the provisions of the Same Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act.

Following their arraignment, the court remanded the defendants at the Suleja Correctional Centre and fixed September 30, 2026, for the continuation of the trial.

The FCT Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring justice in the case, while stressing that it would continue to uphold the constitutional rights of all persons throughout the judicial process.
