Former Chief Security Officer to late Head of State, General Sani Abacha, Major Hamza Al-Mustapha, has rejected claims made by former Department of State Services (DSS) operative, Mr. Amachree, about the circumstances surrounding Abacha’s death, describing the account as false and misleading.
Speaking with journalists in Kaduna, Al-Mustapha alleged that the former DSS official was influenced to include the claims in his recently published book.
“The boy was asked to write the lies by others. I have all the CCTV footages of what happened in my custody, so what he said are not true,” Al-Mustapha said.
He insisted that the version of events presented in the publication did not reflect what actually transpired, maintaining that he possesses evidence to refute the allegations.
Al-Mustapha also urged the public to disregard the claims, arguing that it was unfair to make what he described as false allegations against someone who was no longer alive to defend himself.
“Just ignore his lies. It’s bad to say such things on someone that is dead,” he added.
The remarks were in response to excerpts from Amachree’s book, in which the former DSS officer gave his account of the events leading up to Abacha’s death and recounted an interrogation he said he conducted as part of the agency’s investigation.
