X, formerly known as Twitter, has announced plans to discontinue its Revenue Sharing programme and replace it with a new Original Content Rewards Program for creators.

The platform said the new initiative is designed to reward creators who produce original content and make meaningful contributions to conversations on X.

According to X, the existing Revenue Sharing programme will end on September 7, 2026, with creators continuing to earn until that date. The final payout under the scheme will be issued on September 11.

Applications for the new Original Content Rewards Program will open on September 8, subject to creators meeting the eligibility requirements.

X said creators can check their eligibility through Creator Studio under the Original Content Rewards section.

Creators who have already completed identity verification and linked a valid payout method will not need to repeat the process.

The platform said the new scheme reflects its desire to reward users who contribute original reporting, expert insights, unique experiences, creativity and commentary to the platform.
