The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has forecast cloudy conditions, thunderstorms and moderate rainfall across parts of the country from Sunday to Tuesday.
In its weather outlook released on Sunday, the agency predicted sunny skies with patches of clouds over the northern region, with chances of early morning thunderstorms and light rain in parts of Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara, Kaduna, Borno, Taraba and Adamawa states.
It also forecast thunderstorms with moderate rainfall in most parts of the North later in the afternoon or evening.
For the North-Central region, NiMet predicted early morning thunderstorms and light rain in parts of Kwara, Niger, Kogi and the Federal Capital Territory, followed by moderate rainfall later in the day.
Across the southern region, cloudy skies and light morning rain are expected in parts of Oyo, Delta, Bayelsa, Cross River and Akwa Ibom states, while moderate rainfall is expected in several South-West, South-South and South-East states later in the day.
For Monday and Tuesday, NiMet forecast further thunderstorms and moderate rainfall across parts of the northern and North-Central regions, while cloudy conditions and rainfall are expected across much of the southern states.
The agency warned that strong winds could precede thunderstorms and advised residents to secure loose objects, avoid driving during heavy rainfall and stay away from tall trees.
NiMet also advised the public to disconnect electrical appliances from sockets during thunderstorms and urged airline operators to obtain airport-specific weather reports for effective flight planning.
The agency encouraged residents to stay informed through its regular weather updates. (NAN)
