The Presidency has explained that President Bola Tinubu’s three-week vacation in Europe is intended to allow him to rest and recharge after months of intensive engagement with governance.
Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communications, Sunday Dare, disclosed this while speaking with journalists on Sunday.
Dare said Tinubu had remained heavily occupied with state matters over the past six to seven months, during which his administration took major decisions on the economy, security and other areas of governance.
“The President has had several months — six, seven months — of being engaged with state matters,” Dare said, adding that the period had seen “monumental changes” and significant decisions affecting the country.
He also linked the timing of the vacation to the commencement of political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to him, Tinubu is entering a period expected to involve several months of intensive campaigning while still carrying out his constitutional responsibilities as president.
“At this point, the campaign season has just started. We have four, five months of serious campaigning. Of course, governance will still continue,” he said.
Dare stressed that the break would enable the President to regain energy ahead of the demanding political season, while continuing to monitor developments in government during his absence.
Tinubu departed Abuja on Sunday for Europe to begin his three-week annual vacation, with London, United Kingdom, reported as his first stop.
The vacation comes as political parties and candidates intensify preparations for the 2027 general elections, with the ruling All Progressives Congress expected to step up its campaign activities in the coming months.
