Lekki cinema incident: Film agency mourns security officer

The Lagos State Film and Video Censors Board (LSFVCB) has expressed sadness over the death of a security officer during a security incident at a IMAX cinema facility in Lekki, Lagos State.

The Board, in a statement by its Executive Secretary/CEO, Mrs. Adebukola A. Agbaminoja, condoled with the deceased’s family, friends and colleagues, while wishing an injured person involved in the incident a speedy and full recovery.

The LSFVCB described the incident as a stark reminder of the need for effective safety and security measures at cinemas and other entertainment facilities across the state.

It urged the public to remain calm and avoid speculation or the circulation of unverified information as relevant security agencies continue their investigations.

The Board also called on cinema operators and other entertainment industry stakeholders to regularly review and strengthen their security and emergency-response measures in collaboration with appropriate security agencies.

“ The safety and well-being of cinema patrons, employees, and all stakeholders in the entertainment industry remain of utmost importance,” the statement said.

The Board extended its thoughts and prayers to everyone affected by the incident.
