Air Peace has apologised to passengers affected by recent flight delays and cancellations, attributing the disruptions to adverse weather, technical issues, a bird strike, a false fire alarm and delays in aviation fuel availability.
In a statement signed by its Chief Operating Officer, Oluwatoyin Olajide, the airline said it understood the frustration caused by the disruptions and regretted the impact on passengers’ travel plans.
The airline explained that one of its aircraft was grounded following an inadvertent false fire alarm, while another was taken out of service for several days after sustaining a bird strike.
It added that adverse weather had led to flight diversions, delays and cancellations, while some aircraft also required mandatory technical inspections and maintenance.
Air Peace said it would not compromise passenger safety in an attempt to maintain flight schedules.
“Air Peace will never compromise safety in an attempt to keep to a schedule,” the airline said, stressing that an aircraft would only be returned to service after its technical teams and relevant safety procedures had confirmed that it was fit to fly.
The carrier said it was taking immediate steps to stabilise its operations, strengthen contingency plans and improve communication with passengers whenever unforeseen disruptions occur.
It also apologised to travellers whose journeys had been disrupted, saying it appreciated passengers who had been kept waiting, forced to rearrange important plans or incurred additional inconvenience.
Air Peace reaffirmed its commitment to safe and reliable air transportation, saying it would continue working to improve its operational resilience and provide a better travel experience for passengers.
