A suspect arrested in connection with the armed robbery at Ghost & Spirit Lounge on Ekoro Road, Abule Egba, Lagos, has reportedly broken his silence, revealing how he was recruited into the gang.

The suspect, identified as Ezekiel Sunday, was arrested less than 24 hours after the nightclub management released CCTV footage of the incident and announced a ₦5 million reward for information leading to the arrest of those responsible.

According to the suspect, his involvement in the robbery has left him deeply embarrassed, particularly after his wife and children saw the CCTV footage and allegedly recognised him.

“I’m embarrassed my wife and children have seen me,” the suspect reportedly said while recounting how he became involved with the gang.

The robbery occurred at about 4am on Saturday, September 26, 2026, when CCTV cameras captured a group of young men standing and chatting around parked vehicles outside the lounge.

A man dressed in yellow was seen moving towards one of the men. Moments later, a Mercedes-Benz reportedly pulled up across the road. The driver stepped out and allegedly opened fire in the direction of the group, forcing people to flee.

While most of the men ran for safety, the individual who appeared to have been targeted remained at the scene. The man in yellow and another man dressed in white then reportedly approached the shooter before the three men ran towards the waiting Mercedes-Benz and escaped.

The victim was allegedly dispossessed of mobile phones and a Cuban or gold chain, although the exact items stolen have not been officially established.

The nightclub management subsequently said its review of the CCTV footage showed similarities between the latest incident and an earlier armed robbery at the venue about six months ago.

During the earlier incident, customers reportedly lost cash, phones, gold and other valuables, while one victim sustained a gunshot injury but survived.

Following the latest attack, the management announced a ₦5 million reward for credible information that could lead to the identification and arrest of those responsible. The incident was also reported to the police.

The subsequent arrest of Sunday represents an early breakthrough in the investigation, although police authorities are still working to establish the full circumstances of the robbery and identify other persons who may have participated.

The suspect’s alleged account of how he was recruited is expected to form part of the ongoing investigation.
