At least six people have reportedly been killed in a fresh accident on the Lagos Coastal Road on Saturday morning.
The crash occurred on the newly constructed highway, with police officers and other security personnel arriving at the scene shortly after the incident.
The bodies of the victims have reportedly been recovered and taken to a mortuary, while details of the circumstances surrounding the crash remain unclear.
There was no immediate information on whether any survivor had been rescued from the accident.
The incident comes days after another crash involving a Lexus SUV on the same road reportedly claimed one life.
The Federal Ministry of Works had earlier threatened to close the Coastal Road over what it described as abuse of the highway, including speeding and the theft of road furniture.
The ministry had also raised concerns about motorists’ failure to comply with safety regulations on the newly opened road.
Saturday’s latest crash is expected to renew concerns over safety and enforcement measures on the highway as authorities continue to manage traffic and investigate the incident.
