Afrobeats stars Tiwa Savage and Teni have sparked excitement online after exchanging a playful boxing challenge, with Tiwa accepting Teni’s proposed ₦1.5 billion fight.
Teni, whose real name is Teniola Atinuke Apata, issued the challenge in a viral video on Friday while discussing the earnings and lavish lifestyles of Nigerian entertainers.
The singer jokingly challenged Tiwa to a boxing bout, proposing a ₦1.5 billion purse and wondering whether the money would be enough to buy a Bugatti.
“Let’s fight, Tiwa Savage and me,” Teni said, adding that she would defeat the singer and later serenade her with Tiwa’s hit song, My Darling.
Tiwa responded to the challenge in the comments section with two words: “Pick a date.”
Her response immediately sent fans into a frenzy, with many speculating about a possible celebrity boxing showdown.
However, there is currently no confirmed promoter, contract or date for a bout between the two singers.
The exchange comes amid growing interest in celebrity boxing in Nigeria.
The trend recently gained attention after Big Brother Naija winner Phyna knocked out actress Nkechi Blessing in a Lagos bout on October 1, organised under Balmoral Group Promotions’ Chaos in the Ring series.
The series has also featured entertainers including Portable, Charles Okocha, Speed Darlington and Carter Efe.
Carter Efe defeated Portable by unanimous decision at Chaos in the Ring 4, while Portable had earlier defeated Okocha and Speed Darlington.
For now, Tiwa’s “Pick a date” remains a playful acceptance—but fans will undoubtedly be watching to see whether the ₦1.5 billion challenge moves from social media banter to the boxing ring.
