A man allegedly posing as a prospective car buyer caused chaos in Lagos after taking a Toyota Tundra on a test drive from a dealership operated by New Holland Auto Group in Victoria Garden City (VGC).

The incident, which reportedly began as a routine vehicle test drive on Monday, took a dangerous turn when the suspect allegedly drove recklessly along the busy VGC–Jakande corridor of the Lekki-Epe expressway, injuring several people and throwing motorists, pedestrians and other road users into panic.

The suspect was said to have taken the vehicle under the guise of inspecting it before allegedly embarking on a reckless drive through the area.

His actions reportedly endangered other road users as he sped through the corridor, leaving several people injured in the process.

The alleged joyride eventually ended in Ajiran, where residents reportedly apprehended the suspect.

However, the situation took another dramatic turn when an angry crowd descended on him, physically assaulting him before he could be handed over to the appropriate authorities.

Details surrounding the incident, including the exact number of people injured, the extent of their injuries and whether the suspect has been formally taken into police custody, were not immediately available.

Further details are awaited from the relevant authorities.
