Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has inaugurated the new permanent headquarters of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) in Ikeja, aimed at strengthening security coordination and improving support for security agencies across the state.
Sanwo-Olu disclosed this in a statement following the inauguration on Friday, noting that the Fund had operated from rented premises since its establishment in 2007.
He said the new building, completed just 10 months after the groundbreaking ceremony, would provide the LSSTF with a dedicated coordination centre to enhance operational efficiency, improve response times and ensure better management of resources deployed to support security agencies.
The governor attributed the successful completion of the project to the generosity of businessman Sir Adebukunola Adebutu Kessington, publicly known as Baba Ijebu who fully funded the construction of the facility and donated five patrol vehicles to support security operations in the state.
Sanwo-Olu expressed appreciation to Kessington for his continued contributions to Lagos State, describing the support as significant to the state’s efforts to strengthen its security infrastructure.
He, however, stressed that the value of the new facility would ultimately depend on its impact on security delivery and the safety of residents.
According to the governor, security remains fundamental to Lagos State’s development, as residents must feel safe while businesses require a secure environment to operate and thrive.
He charged security agencies across the state to maximise the opportunities provided by the new headquarters to strengthen their operations, improve coordination and uphold the rights of citizens.
Sanwo-Olu reiterated his administration’s commitment to ensuring that Lagos remains safe for residents, investors and visitors, emphasising that the new headquarters must translate into measurable improvements in security operations across the state.
