The Lagos State Government has commenced the installation of boundary demarcation signposts across strategic locations to clarify territorial limits between neighbouring communities and states and prevent disputes over alleged encroachment.

The initiative is aimed at addressing uncertainties surrounding boundary lines, improving public awareness of recognised territorial limits and reducing conflicts arising from disagreements over land and jurisdiction.

The signposts are being installed in Eredo-Epe, around Mojoda, along the Itokin-Ijebu Ode Road, Ikorodu-Shagamu Road, Ojodu-Alagbole Road, Owode-Apa Road and the Seme Border.

The selected locations cover key routes and areas around Lagos’ boundaries with neighbouring communities and states, where clearly marked demarcations could help residents, landowners, motorists and other stakeholders identify territorial limits.

The project is also expected to provide visible reference points for boundary identification and help discourage disputes linked to claims of encroachment or uncertainty over jurisdiction.

By marking these boundaries, the state government seeks to promote peaceful relations among neighbouring communities and strengthen awareness of established territorial limits.

The government’s initiative comes amid the importance of clear boundary identification in managing land-related disagreements and maintaining cooperation between communities and neighbouring states.
