Operatives of Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Lagos State Police command have arrested a driver who abandoned his boss’s vehicle and absconded with her laptop in Ikeja.
The suspect, Kelechi Jeffrey, 30 years old, was arrested on Sunday, October 27, in Ikorodu, after being trailed by RRS operatives.
Kelechi had on Tuesday, October 22, after driving his boss to the office, abandoned the vehicle with the key around Alausa Central Business District, Ikeja, before making away with his boss’s HP EliteBook, 500 GGRAM laptop containing his employer’s official and vital personal information.
The suspect was employed on August 21, 2024. He had, after stealing the laptop, sold it off for N120,000.00 at Computer Village, Ikeja.
The suspect, however, pretended he was going to release the laptop to his boss once a N100,00.00 ransom was sent to his account.
On receiving the money, Kelechi switched off his mobile phone and became unreachable.
The police, on Monday, October 28, recovered the formatted laptop from the buyer in Computer Village, Ikeja.
The suspect, in line with Commander, Rapid Response Squad (RRS), CSP Shola Jejeloye’s directive, is to be charged to court for prosecution.
