The Lagos State government has sealed up several establishments in parts of the state due to noise pollution.
This is in continuation of a drive towards returning sanity to the state following environmental impunity by some residents and businesses.
on Wednesday, the enforcement was undertaken by the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) in Ikorodu, In an effort to combat noise pollution and other environmental violations, the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA), took decisive action today shutting down multiple establishments in the area of the state.
“This enforcement operation targeted areas such as Itokin Road, Maya, Erunwen, Elepe Road, Awolowo Way, Ijede Road and the Igbogbo Road area in Ikorodu, reflecting LASEPA’s ongoing commitment to maintaining environmental standards and protecting public health,” a statement by LASEPA reads.
“The establishments affected include the National Conference of the Calvary Cross, Cherubim & Seraphim Church, Cherubim & Seraphim Church (Asale Agbala), Le Silhouette Hotel, Walik Hotel, Rhonny’s Place, Obans Events Center, Stop Over Inn, Bigcat Bakery, Girrong Hotel & Bar, Anjia Prefabricated Construction (Nig) Co. Ltd, Tois Bar & Holiday Inn, a quarry site, and Ambassador Villa.
“The General Manager, LASEPA, Tunde Ajayi stated that the sealed establishments had violated environmental regulations despite repeated warnings from the agency.
“He reaffirmed LASEPA’s strict stance on compliance, stating, “We will not permit disregard for our regulations.”
“Dr. Ajayi encouraged all businesses to acknowledge their environmental responsibilities and cooperate with the State government in creating a cleaner and more sustainable Lagos that will be the pride of all.”
