In a significant bust, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intercepted a 42-year-old Indian lady, Ms. Neetu Neetu, at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport with 72 parcels of heroin factory sealed in wafer wraps and packaged as chocolates. The class A drug consignment weighed a total of 11 kilograms.

The arrest of Neetu highlights a growing trend of drug trafficking organizations hiring foreign nationals to move illicit drugs through Nigerian borders. However, NDLEA operatives have consistently thwarted these attempts using modern technological tools and proactive intelligence.

In another operation in Kano, NDLEA officers arrested a 45-year-old suspect, Michael Ogundele, with a 50-litre steel gas cylinder containing 50,000 pills of tramadol 225mg.

Other arrests were made in Kano and Lagos, with seizures including skunk, codeine-based syrup, cocaine, heroin, and methamphetamine.

The NDLEA has also intensified its War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) social advocacy sensitization engagements in schools, markets, and workplaces across the country.

Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, Brig Gen Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), commended the officers and men of MAKIA, Lagos, and Kano Commands for the arrests and seizures, urging them not to relent in their efforts.
