In a bold move to curb indiscriminate waste disposal, the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has apprehended a suspect, identified as Ogbonna, for illegally dumping waste at Car Wash Bus Stop along Idimu Road.

The incident occurred on March 18, and was captured in LAWMA’s Waste Infractions Surveillance and Investigation Report.

Investigations revealed that Ogbonna’s residence lacked a designated waste storage facility, and he failed to provide proof of registration with the Private Sector Participation (PSP) operator responsible for waste management in the area.

These infractions have led to LAWMA initiating legal proceedings against Ogbona under the Lagos State Environmental Management and Protection Law of 2017.

This arrest is part of LAWMA’s intensified efforts to enforce environmental laws and maintain cleanliness in Lagos.

Residents are urged to comply with waste management regulations to avoid penalties, as the government strives to make Lagos a cleaner and more sustainable city.

The Lagos State Government has been working tirelessly to address the challenges of waste management, and this incident demonstrates their commitment to holding perpetrators accountable.

LAWMA’s efforts to promote a cleaner Lagos are crucial, especially considering the city’s rapid growth and the environmental pressures that come with it.
