Nollywood filmmaker, Biodun Stephen, has urged viewers to always give new faces they see in movies a chance.
According to her, they should not be hasty in judging them but watch them with patient, open and encouraging minds.
It would be recalled that stars such as Kunle Afolayan, Kabirah Kafidipe (Araparegangan) and Bukola Awoyemi (Arugba) were initially featured by veteran filmmaker, Tunde Kelani.
Stephen, famed for the likes of ‘Introducing the Kujus’, ‘The Visit’ and and ‘Looking for Baami’, noted in an interview that newer talents too should be given the opportunity to prove their mettle.
She said, “For me, art cannot be limited to a particular scope of people. People need to be given opportunities. If they cannot get that opportunity in cinema, they should be able to get it on streaming platforms like YouTube.
“The audience should be a bit more accommodating when they see a face that they don’t know, trusting that if the story is good and they give that actor a chance. There are many actors who became superstars from one scene, but that won’t happen if they don’t give the film a chance.”
