A 28-year-old man, David Innah, was on Monday arraigned before an Ikorodu Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State for allegedly breaking into two properties and stealing construction materials worth over N4 million.
Innah, whose residential address was not disclosed, is facing a three-count charge bordering on willful damage, unlawful entry, and theft. He pleaded not guilty to all charges.
The prosecutor, ASP Aminu Isaac, informed the court that the alleged offences occurred on April 30 at Palace Road in the Omitoro, Ijede area of Ikorodu.
According to Isaac, Innah unlawfully entered a fenced and gated building under construction, where he willfully damaged an entrance door valued at N450,000, roofing sheets worth N5,000, and a gate padlock worth N2,000. The property belongs to one Mr. Oluseyi Thomas.
On the same day, at approximately 12:35 a.m., the defendant was also accused of entering another residence belonging to Mr. Olalere Emmanuel, from which he allegedly stole a 10KVA Fireman generator valued at N600,000, along with house wiring cables valued at N3.4 million.
The prosecutor stated that the offences are contrary to Sections 350, 308(1), and 287 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
Presiding Chief Magistrate B. A. Sonuga granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum. The sureties’ addresses must be verified. The case was adjourned until June 19 for mention.
