The Lagos State Government has announced a series of traffic diversions across key routes in Victoria Island ahead of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) golden jubilee celebration, scheduled to take place from May 27 to 29.

In a statement issued on Monday, Bolanle Ogunlola, Deputy Director of Public Affairs at the Ministry of Transportation, said the traffic advisory aims to ensure smooth traffic flow and enhance security around the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA) and Eko Hotels and Suites—venues for the event.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who also serves as Chairman of ECOWAS, is expected to deliver a keynote address on the regional bloc’s economic achievements during the celebration.

To minimize traffic congestion during the event, motorists heading from the Eko Hotel roundabout toward Lagos Island or the mainland are advised to use Adetokunbo Ademola Road to Civic Centre, link up with Ozumba Mbadiwe, and proceed to Bonny Camp roundabout, where they can turn right toward their destinations.

Alternatively, drivers can use the Falomo ramp near the Nigerian Law School.

Those exiting Ajose Adeogun or Adetokunbo Ademola via Eko Hotel roundabout should follow Sanusi Fafunwa Street, connect to Akin Adesola, and then turn left at the junction for access to Ahmadu Bello Way or Adeola Odeku. A right turn leads to Falomo Bridge or the Law School route.

Motorists leaving Lagos Continental Hotel toward Bonny Camp are advised to take Kofo Abayomi to Kilimanjaro Junction on Ozumba Mbadiwe, then either turn left to Bonny Camp or right toward Lekki.

Drivers approaching Kofo Abayomi from Bonny Camp should turn right at Kilimanjaro Junction to reach Lagos Continental Hotel.

Commuters from Independence Bridge or McEwen Bridge should turn left at the IMB Building on Ahmadu Bello Way by Atlantic City, then connect to Akin Adesola and proceed through inner roads to Eko Hotel.

Ogunlola assured the public that officers of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) will be strategically deployed along the affected routes to provide direction and minimize inconvenience.
