President Bola Tinubu will on Saturday, commission 11 major completed road and bridge projects across Nigeria, including the much-anticipated first completed section of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, a flagship project under his Renewed Hope Legacy agenda.
The Federal Ministry of Works announced on Friday that the commissioning—set to take place both physically and virtually—follows presidential approval granted to the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, to open a 30-kilometre stretch of the coastal highway to traffic.
The physical event will be held at Kilometre 8 of the project corridor, near Jakande Estate in Lagos State. A statement from Orji Uchenna, Special Adviser to the Minister, confirmed that the inaugurated segment, part of Phase I, Section I, runs from Ahmadu Bello Way on Victoria Island to Eleko Village in the Lekki Peninsula. The project is being executed by Hi-tech Construction Company.
Spanning 700 kilometres across nine coastal states, the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway is poised to transform Nigeria’s transport infrastructure, bolster economic connectivity, and unlock tourism and investment opportunities along the southern corridor.
