A dramatic incident unfolded at Murtala Muhammed Airport in Ikeja, Lagos, on Wednesday morning, June 11, 2025, involving the senator representing Edo North, Adams Oshiomhole, who allegedly disrupted flight operations by Air Peace.
According to a statement released by the airline, Oshiomhole, a former governor of Edo State, arrived at the airport around 6:10 a.m. for Flight P47120 to Abuja, scheduled to depart at 6:30 a.m. However, the boarding gate had already been closed in line with the airline’s standard departure protocols, and the flight took off as scheduled.
Air Peace alleged that upon learning he had missed the flight, Senator Oshiomhole became aggressive, physically assaulted airline staff, and forcibly barricaded the entrance to Terminal 1 (Zulu Hall), preventing other passengers from accessing the terminal.
“The prominent individual in question… resorted to violence, physically assaulting our staff and forcefully barricading the terminal’s entrance,” the airline stated.
Air Peace condemned the actions as “unacceptable behaviour” and confirmed that the disruption impacted multiple flights and inconvenienced numerous travelers. To manage the situation, the airline implemented a contingency plan by redirecting passengers through an alternate terminal.
“We are deeply saddened that such a high-profile figure displayed conduct so unbecoming and disruptive to fellow passengers and our personnel,” the statement added.
Reaffirming its zero-tolerance policy towards aggression and violence, Air Peace emphasized: “No individual, no matter how influential, is above these values.”
The incident continues to draw public attention as calls grow for accountability and adherence to civil conduct, especially from public officials.
