The Lagos State Police Command has announced a revision to the restriction of vehicular and waterways movement earlier scheduled for the Local Government Elections taking place on Saturday, July 12, 2025.
In a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Command said the restriction will now commence at 6:00 AM and end at 3:00 PM on election day. This is a shift from the earlier announced 3:00 AM start time.
The adjustment, according to the statement, is aimed at easing the movement of residents with medical emergencies, essential appointments, and those with long-planned international travel itineraries.
“The general public is enjoined to cooperate and respect the new timing,” the statement read.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to ensuring a secure and peaceful electoral process across the 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas in the state.
He also urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the police through the dedicated emergency lines: 08063299264 or 08065154338.
The Police Command called on all Lagosians to cooperate with security agencies for the success of the elections.
