The remains of former President Muhammadu Buhari have been laid to rest at his private residence in Daura, his hometown in Katsina State.
The late president’s body, which departed the United Kingdom earlier on Tuesday, was received at the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Airport in Katsina by President Bola Tinubu.
EveryDayLagos had earlier reported that Buhari’s remains would first be taken to his residence, allowing immediate family members and close relatives to pay their final respects in a private farewell ceremony.
After a brief period at the family home, a hearse conveyed the body to the designated prayer ground for funeral rites.
President Tinubu arrived from Abuja at 1:42 p.m. and inspected a guard of honour before the Nigerian Air Force aircraft bearing Buhari’s remains touched down at exactly 1:51 p.m.
Former President Muhammadu Buhari passed away on Sunday, July 13, in a London hospital after a prolonged illness.
