The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Olohundare Jimoh, has ordered the detention of a team of officers following their unprofessional conduct captured in a viral video.

The footage, which circulated widely on social media, showed some policemen attempting to forcibly remove a motorist’s glasses, suspected to contain a hidden camera. The confrontation escalated when one of the officers was seen striking the motorist.

Reacting to the incident, the Command’s spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, said the Commissioner directed immediate disciplinary measures, including the detention of the erring officers. He confirmed that they will face an orderly room trial in line with established procedures to ensure transparency and justice.

In a decisive move, CP Jimoh also announced the dissolution of the Tactical Squad implicated in the incident, replacing it with a newly constituted unit. According to him, the new squad will operate with zero tolerance for corruption while upholding international best practices, respect for human rights, and professional standards.

“The Lagos State Police Command remains committed to serving and protecting the public with integrity and fairness. We urge residents to continue to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and report any act of misconduct through our established channels,” the statement read.
