Governor Hyacinth Alia has congratulated Alfred Emberga on his election as the new Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly.
He gave the message through his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, while explaining that Emberga replaced Aondona Dajoh, who resigned.
The governor said the lawmakers acted fast and showed respect for democracy, and he added that Emberga’s leadership would help the assembly make laws and policies for the good of the people.
He also called for unity between the legislature, executive, and judiciary, stressing that teamwork would bring development and deliver the gains of democracy.
Alia made this statement on Monday, a day after the lawmakers elected Emberga.
The message came from Makurdi, the capital of Benue State.
The governor praised the election process as quick and peaceful, promised full support to Emberga, assured the assembly members of cooperation, and thanked Dajoh for his service during his two years as speaker.
