A 13-day refresher training has begun to enhance the skills and improve healthcare services provided by 800 frontline health workers in Ekiti State.
The National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), in partnership with the Ekiti State Government, is conducting the program.
According to Mr. Adekunle Olalekan, NPHCDA’s State Coordinator in Ekiti, the training involves various healthcare professionals, including skilled birth attendants, nurses, midwives, community health officers, and extension workers.
Olalekan explained that the initiative aims to strengthen the abilities of frontline health workers within the public health sector.
Dr. Rasheed Adepoju, Executive Secretary of the Ekiti State Primary Health Care Development Agency, described the training as timely and apt.
It was noted that it will also enhance the morale and competency of the participants, ultimately leading to better health outcomes across the state.
The training commenced recently in Ado-Ekiti and will run for 13 days.
This phase follows a previous session where 500 health workers received similar training a few months ago.
The program includes participants from all 16 local government areas of Ekiti and seeks to equip them with updated knowledge and skills to boost healthcare delivery.
