The Kano State Government has praised the successful environmental sanitation exercise held across the state, highlighting the significant efforts of communities in maintaining cleanliness.
Dr. Dahir Hashim, the Commissioner for Environment, led an inspection team that included Abdullahi Bichi, the Governor’s Special Adviser on Environmental Sanitation, as well as other key stakeholders, such as sanitation committees, security agencies, and journalists.
The government emphasized that the exercise is crucial for public health, flood prevention, and environmental cleanliness.
The exercise took place on Saturday, with the inspection team visiting several areas in Kano metropolis, including Jakara-Kwanar Goda, Iyaka Road, and Murtala Muhammad Way.
The Jakara-Kwanar Goda community was specifically praised for its large-scale mobilization of residents to clear drains and clean the environment.
While most communities adhered to the sanitation restrictions, a few defaulters were noted.
The government urged other communities, such as Tudun-Nufawa, to follow suit and collaborate to create cleaner and healthier environments across Kano.
