The Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) has stated that it presented Certificates of Return to the winners of the Local Government Council elections.
The Commission’s Chairman, Michael Odey, said he handed the certificates to 23 chairmen and 319 councillors, noting that newly elected leaders such as Alwell Ihunda of Port Harcourt City, Lucky Otuo of Andoni, and Chukwu Ogbogu of Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni also spoke at the event.
Odey explained that the presentation aimed to confirm their victories, remind them to respect the people’s trust, and advise aggrieved contestants to seek redress through legal means.
He said the presentation took place on Monday in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Odey added that he congratulated the winners and urged them to provide responsible leadership.
Ihunda commended President Bola Tinubu, Rivers State Sole Administrator Ibok-Ete Ibas, and security agencies for ensuring a peaceful process.
Otuo promised to focus on human capacity development and inclusivity, while Ogbogu pledged to prioritize youth empowerment and infrastructure.
Other elected chairmen also assured their communities of development and accountable governance.
