The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has, on Monday, led members and supporters on a protest in Ibadan over the alleged harassment of Ibraheem Shittu, the lawmaker representing Saki West State Constituency.
The party took to the streets to demand protection for Shittu, claiming he received threats after opposing the approval of a ₦300 billion loan sought by Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration.
Abas said the loan would add to Oyo State’s debt and described the borrowing plan as reckless.
He said the party would not allow its members to be intimidated for speaking out against what it considered a harmful financial decision.
The protest began at the APC secretariat in Oke Ado, moved through Dugbe and Mokola, and ended at the starting point.
According to the chairman, protesters carried placards, chanted solidarity songs, and submitted a protest letter.
He added that security operatives monitored the rally to prevent disruption.
