Electricity supply is slowly returning across parts of the country following the collapse of the national grid earlier on Wednesday.

At 1:38 p.m. on September 10, 2025, load allocation data showed that six distribution companies (DisCos) had begun receiving limited supply, bringing total national generation to 290 megawatts (MW).

Ikeja DisCo had the highest allocation with 80 MW, followed by Eko (60 MW), Ibadan (50 MW), Benin (40 MW), Enugu (40 MW), and Abuja (20 MW). However, Jos, Kaduna, Kano, Port Harcourt, and Yola DisCos were still without supply.

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) earlier confirmed that the grid collapsed before noon, triggering a nationwide blackout. It said restoration was ongoing in phases to stabilise the system.

The incident comes just hours after a complete shutdown left nearly all Nigerians in darkness, with only Ibadan DisCo briefly receiving 20 MW during the outage.

Authorities say full restoration is expected once system balancing and generation ramp-up are completed.
