The governorship candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) in Anambra, Mr Paul Chukwuma, has said he would guarantee freedom for local councils by ensuring their full autonomy if elected.
He explained that his vision was to bring positive change, reclaim the state, restore law and order, and make governance work for people in all 21 local government areas.
Chukwuma gave this assurance on Tuesday ahead of the November 8 governorship election.
He made the statement at his country home in Umueri, Anambra East Local Government Area.
He added that he would respect the Supreme Court ruling on local government autonomy, avoid interference in council funds, and support an independent state assembly.
He also promised to deploy technology to strengthen tax collection, block corruption, and improve the use of revenue for the people’s benefit.
Chukwuma further said he would tackle insecurity, abolish the Monday sit-at-home, and boost socio-economic activities within the state.
He stressed that his campaign would remain issue-based and not focus on personal attacks against opponents.
