Tiger beer starts street football game

Tiger Beer, through its Portfolio Manager, Premium Brands, Maria Shadeko, has announced the launch of the Tiger Street Football Tournament.

She explained that the tournament will promote grassroots football, discover hidden talents, and celebrate the fearless energy of Nigerian youths.

The event will be held across Nigerian cities, beginning in Awka, Anambra.

It will run from October 11 to October 25.

The format will feature five-a-side knockout matches where students, hustlers, and hidden talents form teams of eight.

Teams will compete from the round of 16 for cash prizes.

Winners will receive ₦5 million, while the runner-up will take ₦3 million.

Third and fourth-place teams will each earn ₦1 million.

Each city will host its own competition, ending with a one-day semi-final and final spectacle.

The event will also feature halftime parties and cultural showcases inspired by Nigeria’s street football tradition.

Shadeko said the culture of street football has produced stars like Jay-Jay Okocha, Kanu Nwankwo, and Victor Osimhen.
