Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested two suspected armed robbers, sealed off their criminal hideout in Mushin, and recovered arms, ammunition, and other incriminating exhibits.

The suspects were apprehended on Friday, October 3, 2025, at about 10:00 a.m. when detectives attached to the Lagos State Task Force, while on duty along Empire Junction by Jibowu inward Ikorodu Road, sighted four young men suspected to be armed robbers. On sighting the officers, three of the suspects fled, but one, identified as Toheeb Adeboye, 21, was intercepted and arrested.

A search on him led to the recovery of a cache of weapons including a locally made single-barrel cut-to-size gun, an English Barreter pistol with two 9mm live rounds, and another locally made pistol with 10 live cartridges, all concealed in a bag.

During interrogation, Adeboye confessed that his gang had just concluded a robbery operation at Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State, and were heading to their regular hideout at New Supreme Hotel, Akala, Mushin. Acting on the intelligence, operatives raided the hotel and recovered incriminating items, including a laptop, charms, suspected Indian hemp, and other hard drugs.

One of the fleeing gang members, Ajayi Adeniyi, 33, was also arrested during the raid and found in possession of a locally fabricated pistol. The hotel has since been cordoned off permanently.

The suspects and recovered exhibits have been transferred to the Command Headquarters for further investigation, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the gang.

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, commended the operatives for their professionalism and warned hoteliers across the state against negligence in record-keeping, stressing that criminal elements often exploit lapses to use hotels as hideouts.

He reassured Lagos residents of the Command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, urging citizens to remain law-abiding, vigilant, and to promptly report suspicious activities.

SP Abimbola Adebisi, Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the development in a statement issued on Friday.
