The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in office, urging residents to turn out in large numbers to support his re-election in the 2027 general elections.

The endorsement was made on Tuesday during the Lagos APC Stakeholders Forum 2025 held at Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, which brought together thousands of party leaders, members, and supporters across the state.

The meeting had in attendance Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu; former governors Mr. Babatunde Fashola and Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode; Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat and his wife, Oluremi; Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa; members of the APC National and State Working Committees; federal and state lawmakers; and other political, traditional, and religious leaders.

The motion for Tinubu’s endorsement was moved by the Ayangburen of Ikorodu, Oba Kabiru Shotobi, and seconded by Speaker Obasa, who both cited the president’s performance in the past two years as justification for another term.

In his address, Governor Sanwo-Olu said President Tinubu has delivered on many of his campaign promises and deserves the backing of Lagosians and Nigerians at large.

“Our president, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, was once the 12th governor of Lagos State. After listening to our stakeholders today, it is clear that Lagos APC unanimously supports his return in 2027,” Sanwo-Olu said.

Deputy Governor Hamzat described the endorsement as a vote for continuity, saying the Tinubu administration’s reforms have brought renewed hope and steady progress.

“The leadership of President Tinubu has been marked by courage, vision, and commitment to national transformation. We must continue to build on the foundation he has laid,” Hamzat said, urging party members to mobilise residents across all wards and local governments to ensure a large voter turnout.

Highlighting the achievements of the Sanwo-Olu administration, Hamzat said Lagos has recorded “remarkable transformation” across all sectors under the THEMES+ Agenda, which focuses on transportation, health, education, economy, entertainment, and governance.

Former Governor Babatunde Fashola, in his lecture titled “Voter Apathy and the Sanctity of Elections in Nigeria’s Budding Democracy,” called on party members to reawaken political enthusiasm and engage young people in the electoral process.

“Political participation thrives on enthusiasm. If people are hopeful, they will vote. The renewed hope agenda must translate into renewed energy for our party and programmes,” Fashola said.

Other party leaders and federal cabinet members at the event also highlighted President Tinubu’s achievements in infrastructure, the economy, and governance, reaffirming Lagos APC’s readiness to lead a vigorous mobilisation campaign ahead of 2027.
