Again, Police arrest Portable over defamation, threats

Controversial Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola Badmus, popularly known as Portable, has been arrested by the Kwara State Police Command.

The arrest follows a petition filed by fellow musician Okunola Saheed, also known as Osupa, accusing Portable of:
– Criminal Defamation: Making false statements to damage Osupa’s reputation
– Threat to Life: Issuing threats against Osupa
– Incitement: Using language capable of inciting violence
– Character Assassination: Damaging Osupa’s character through malicious statements
– Conduct Likely to Cause Breach of Peace: Engaging in behavior that could disrupt public order
– Use of Abusive and Insulting Words: Using derogatory language against Osupa

Arrest and Investigation
The police secured a valid arrest warrant from a Magistrate Court in Ilorin after reviewing the allegations and supporting evidence. Portable was apprehended in Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Saturday, April 13, 2025, and taken to Ilorin for further investigation. His statement was recorded in the presence of legal representatives from both parties ¹.

Next Steps
Portable is currently in custody, and arrangements are being made to charge him in court without delay. The Kwara State Police Command has assured the public that they will uphold the rule of law and ensure justice is served in a fair and transparent manner.
