The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has spoken on the AI-generated image circulating on social media, which depicted him as a Muslim in Mecca.

According to Church Times Nigeria on Saturday, Adeboye spoke during the first Holy Ghost Night of the new year, held in the early hours of Saturday, January 4.

Late December 2024, there were viral images which trended online depicting the RCCG pastor as a Muslim – clothed in Islamic garments – and as being in the Holy land of Mecca, Saudi Arabia.

With a wry smile, Adeboye acknowledged the AI-generated image of him as an alhaji, remarking in passing: “I’m sure many of you saw that picture showing me as an alhaji.”

A male figure who completes Hajj rituals on a holy pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia is called an Alhaji while the female counterpart is called an Alhaja.

The RCCG General Overseer also outlined the church’s focus for the 100-day fast, with the first 30 days dedicated to praying for Nigeria.

He vowed to lead the church in “violent prayers” aimed at uprooting elements that hinder the country’s progress.

Adeboye prophesied that 2025 would be a pivotal year, bringing significant breakthroughs, promotions, and long-awaited milestones.

He also warned that without prayer, fasting would only amount to a “hunger strike.”

The RCCG General Overseer emphasised the importance of prayer and warned against frivolous conversations during the fasting period.

He also advised individuals above 70 to refrain from participating in the fast or to modify their participation according to their age.
